The official opening won't take place until the end of this month, but the new Beach Club Zand Erover on Baggelhuizerplas in Assen has already had a taste of the real thing. The Beach Club was unofficially opened last week, and there's a big challenge coming up next weekend: the Liberation Festival.
“The whole terrace is full, so the people of Assen know where to find us,” catering business owner Angela Verparschot said yesterday afternoon. “Teething issues still need to be resolved and the staff want training. But then we will be fully prepared for that soon.”
According to Verparchot, things go surprisingly well, but you always run into some things. “For example, working methods in the kitchen or cash register systems that are not yet working optimally. And of course employees also have to get used to how everything works.”
Zand Erover employees don't have much time to get used to their new working environment, because they can start working immediately next Sunday during the Assen Liberation festival to be held at Baggelhuizerplas. “Everything is already under construction and we are also busy with preparations,” says Verparschot. “It is a great opportunity to show Assen that we are already there.”
“I've had some stressful moments over the past week, also trying to get everything done on time. But now I'm really looking forward to it. And when I see this on our balcony, it makes me especially sad.” “Happy,” she says, pointing to Zand Erover’s crowded restaurant terrace on a Thursday afternoon.
The official opening will take place on May 31, but Verbaarschot already has wild plans for the future. “We would like to have a full terrace next summer with nice weather. After that, I would also like to organize things for companies and other outings in the winter. I would also like to have it become a wedding location in the future.”
