On the first day of the World Relay Championships at Thomas A. Robinson National in Nassau, Bahamas, Holland immediately scored a goal. The mixed 4×400 meter team took first place with a time of 03.12.16 – thus qualifying for the Olympic Games.
Netherlands mixed 4×400 team to the Games
With lead runner Isaiah Bors, Leke Klavier in second, Isaiah Klein-Eckink in third, and Femke Paul in second, the Netherlands had an outstanding performance. Boer starts with a gap of 47.28 and appears to have changed to fifth place. Clavier takes over and takes second place on the 200 meter line. At the second corner, Claver passed the leader Jamaica, the first to make the change and set a very fast time of 49.57. Klein Eckink retains first place with a time of 45.77. Finally, Jamaica's leader, Paul, escaped like nothing in a time of 49.54 and was the first to cross the finish line breaststroke on behalf of the Netherlands in a final time of 03.12.16. The United States had the fastest time of the evening in the second series and with it the championship record.
Netherlands Women's 4 x 100 is in second place in the series and goes to Paris
Nketia Sidhu, Marije van Honensteen, Minky Bishops and Tassa Jia cross the finish line in second place with a time of 42.88 – securing a place in the Olympics. With this high performance they are also sixth in total.
Netherlands Men's 4×100 5th in series
Xavi Mu Ajok, Temir Burnet, Hensley Polina and Chorandi Martina finished fifth with a time of 38.87 seconds. This means they have another chance tomorrow to qualify for the Olympics.
Netherlands Women's 4×400 3rd in series
Evelyn Sahlberg, Merthe Schot, Lisanne de Wit and Kathleen Peters finished third in the series with a time of 3.28.10. Femke Bol and Lieke Klaver were saved for their performance during the mixed match. As a result, the team failed, but still performed well. Saalberg starts with a split time of 53.21. Schoot takes over and runs a split time of 52.08. De Witte then continues and gets a split time of 52.14. Finally, Peters ran a fantastic final race with a split time of 50.67. Therefore, it has the second fastest split time in the series. Tomorrow they have another chance to qualify for the Olympics, but the world champions have in fact secured a place with their timings for 2023 (outdoor) and 2024 (indoor).
