North Holland – In the Netherlands, more than 700,000 people suffer from a thyroid disorder, yet there are still many unknowns about the thyroid: both among the general public and among people with a thyroid disorder. To change that, the theme of Thyroid Week (May 21 to 25) this year is: Your Thyroid Must Be. There are many information platforms in North Holland and there is an opportunity to talk with experienced volunteers.
- Tuesday 21 May, 11am – 4pm: MC Leeuwarden information platform
- Wednesday, May 22, 11am – 4pm: Information stand at Bethesda Hoogeveen Hospital
- Thursday 23 May, 11am – 3pm: Information stand at Martini Hospital Groningen
A complete overview of all meetings can be found (online) on the website weekvandeschildklier.nl.
Thyroid Week aims to draw more attention to thyroid disorders and their impact on health. The Thyroid Organization in the Netherlands (SON) holds meetings across the country and creates information platforms to educate the public about the thyroid and to provide knowledge and tools to people with complaints. Thyroid Week also aims to let people with a thyroid condition know that they are not alone.
test your knowledge
Especially for Thyroid Week, SON has developed a quiz with which people can test their knowledge about the thyroid. The test can be completed via the website thyroid.nl, at information kiosks across the country and on social media.
