Samsung has started rolling out an update that brings Galaxy AI features to older smartphones. The update to One UI 6.1 was launched today on phones in several European countries.
Samsung announced on its website today that it has released the One UI 6.1 update for more Galaxy phones. The update is now coming to the Galaxy S22 series, and to other devices from 2022 and 2021, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy S21.
The update brings new Galaxy AI features to older models, but in a minimal form. For example, the AI-powered “Instant Slow-Mo” technology will not be available for 2022 models because it is not powerful enough. For the 2021 line, the Galaxy AI capabilities are more limited. Only the search circuit and “Magic Rewrite” are available for 2021 Galaxy smartphones.
Is it the Netherlands' turn yet?
Although Samsung only mentioned in its post that the update has been released in the US, Europeans report that One UI 6.1 Also available in their countries. For example, people from France and Switzerland said they could install the update on their phones. A Dutchman also responded, but with less good news: the update has not been released here yet.
The update with Galaxy AI debuted on the new Galaxy S24 earlier this year. High-end Galaxy phones for 2023 followed at the end of March.
Galaxy A53 and A54
The One UI 6.1 update will also come to mid-range smartphones like the Galaxy A53, A54, and Galaxy S21 FE later this year, but it will have to do without the AI functionality.
