America gives Ukraine permission to attack targets in Russia with American weapons

The US government secretly allowed Ukraine to use US-supplied weapons against targets on Russian soil. The permission applies only to areas around Kharkiv province, where Russia has carried out a major offensive in recent weeks. A US government official and two other sources told Politico on Thursday.

Weapons must be used strictly to “fight back”, not to initiate the attack themselves. The decision was taken “in recent days” at the request of the Ukrainian government.
