When most people were still lying down this morning, Priscilla van Barlingen began her big walk across the Netherlands. Monday the first 50km, from Den Helder to Alkmaar. It also passes through Amsterdam, Zwolle, Arnhem and other stations. She believes that more attention should be paid to the attack on train staff, and therefore hopes that this protest march will raise this issue with politicians in The Hague.
The first kilometres, straight through Nordkop, Priscilla goes like a rocket. The train driver laughs: “And this is even though I am not trained.” With some music playing and passers-by cheering her on from time to time, Priscilla does it with great pleasure.
Threats
However, the reason for the protest march is not pleasant at all. “Every day you face at least arguments, loud noises or threats. This is the least pleasant side of the job,” says Priscilla, as she walks through the Grote Sloat area near Odesloa. There was also last year 8 percent More reports of aggression among railway employees were reported.
Much to her distress, Priscilla also had accidents while working. She talks about this in the video below (text continues below video)
