At the Diamond League meeting in Monaco, Jakob Ingebrigtsen ran a phenomenal 1500m. He won in 3:26.73, a European record. “There are always things to improve and then a world record could follow,” the Norwegian said afterwards. Andreas Kramer was faster again in the 800m in 1:43.13 (Swedish record). The weather conditions were exceptionally good in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. There was a nice tailwind in some of the sprints. Lotta Harala set the Finnish record in the 100m hurdles, and Denmark’s Gustav Lundholm improved the national record in the 400m. Jakob Ingebrigtsen closes in on 1500m world record in Monaco
In the 1500m in Monaco, Jacob Ingebrigtsen takes the lead from Belgium's Peter Cesk after 1100m. A good final lap (54.0sec) follows. His final time of 3min 26.73sec is a new European record. He remains 73/100ths ahead of Morocco's Hicham El Guerrouj's world record. “During the competition I didn't think about the world record. But now I know that physically I'm fine. There are always things to improve and then a world record could follow. I'm looking forward to the trip to Paris. I'll do my best to get the Olympic gold medal.” His compatriot Narvi Gylje Nordås runs 3min 31.06sec and starts the mile in London (DL). Josh Kerr sets the best time of the year with 3min 45.34sec. For the third time this year, Sweden's Andreas Kramer improves his national record in the 800m in Monaco. In the super-sprint race he finished seventh with a time of 1:43.13, showing good form for the Olympic Games.
National Records in La Chaux-de-Fonds (1)
Finland's Lotta Harala holds the Finnish record in the 100m hurdles in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, with a time of 12.65 seconds. She does so in the series with a tailwind of 1.5 m/s and exceptionally good weather at altitude. Three weeks ago, her compatriot Riitta Horske extended the national record in Kortani (12.68). In the final in Switzerland they meet again in the hurdles. Both athletes run 12.69 seconds (with Nadine Visser winning in 12.36 seconds). He is also the national champion. Lundholm does not have an Olympic ticket. In Switzerland, he is 9/100ths faster than the previous record holders Nick Ekelund-Arnander and Benjamin Lobo-Vedel.
