The Young Riders won the silver medal in the Nations Cup at the European Dressage Championships in Austria. A great performance by the four riders under the guidance of national coach Monique Peutz. Since 2021, another medal has been won at the European Championships under the age of 21. The U25 team continued the bronze medal in the last two years in the team competition. “I am very happy about the silver medal that the Young Riders have won. I am very proud,” says the national coach proudly.
“We worked hard all winter with the Young Riders team. This gives a great boost. It’s great that this has led to a medal. I’m very proud,” says Monique Peutz from warm and oppressive Austria. “They won the medal with very good riding. They also raised and trained the horses themselves. I think that’s an extra compliment to this result. We had to start first and all four of them did very well. They did a very good job.”
Dutch champion Mickey Schilstraet achieved the highest score for the Netherlands. With Venicia OLD she took third place in the state test with 72.382 percent.
KNHS Talent Team member Robin Heiden finished seventh with Gasmonkey bred by her parents and her score of 72.030 counted towards the team score. This also applies to the 71.970 percent achieved by Tessa Colley, who made her European Championship debut, on the scoreboard with Hexagon’s King Robert. King Robert was bred by Leunis van Liere’s Stal Hexagon and trained by Tessa. Ellen Anker and the stallion In Style had a score of 69.118, which did not count towards the team score. Ellen has been riding the stallion bred by Job van Oetert and trained by his wife Renate for several months.
Under 25 Team Bronze
For the third year in a row, the U25 team won the bronze medal in the Nations Cup at the European Championships in St. Margarethen. A great performance by Martin Luiten, Milo Deis, Kim Nordijk and Sophie Reif. Martin and his experienced mare Venona did not pass the best test of their successful career. The result was good for sixth place and the best team result of 71.029 percent.
“They rode really well,” begins Peutz. “All three had a team mistake. But that’s all there is to the game. These are tough tests. After that they took it very well. They usually don’t make those mistakes. In addition, they showed some really nice things. And as is the case with young riders, three of the four trained their horses themselves. That gives them an advantage over other countries. I’m proud of that.”
Kim Nordik led Joep to the second score for the Orange. Milo Des was very close behind. Sophie Reeve and Charming Lady's score was not counted. D
The European Championships continue on Friday with the individual trials and on Sunday the freestyle finals.
