At the beginning of the week, Salzburg AG announced more money for solar energy with high self-consumption. Specifically, feed-in tariffs were increased on July 15 through a new bonus system. However, E-Control criticizes that this is not necessarily profitable for electricity customers compared to other providers.
It is the electricity regulator and thus an independent advocate for all energy customers. Anyone who feeds in up to 1,000 kilowatt hours per year into Salzburg AG will now receive 10 cents per kilowatt hour – previously it was only about 4 cents. There are 7 cents for the next 2,500 kilowatt hours and 4 cents for every additional kilowatt hour.
“There are other providers who consistently pay the same feed-in tariff up to a certain amount of 5,000 or 10,000 kWh. In this respect, the comparison of electricity feed-in above the company’s own requirements is very interesting,” says E-Control board member Alfons Haber.
“Self-consumption is the most economical”
So comparing feed-in tariffs pays off. However, it is better to use the electricity generated by the photovoltaic system yourself if possible, Haber emphasizes. “In addition to electricity costs, you also save on grid fees and taxes.”
You can also refinance your photovoltaic system this way. In addition, no one knows what will happen next year. The new bonus system of Salzburg AG is only valid until the beginning of next year, Haber adds.
