Two robbery attempts took place within minutes of each other on Friday at around 6:45 p.m. at Salzburg Central Station in the city of Mozart. The perpetrator, a 27-year-old Bulgarian, is accused of trying to steal a mobile phone attached to a cable from the victim, also a man, twice. Both attempts failed, probably only because of the strong cable. In the second attempt, the victim was on the phone with the police, according to police.
As part of a search operation that was launched immediately, the accused was stopped just a few minutes later at a gas station near Salzburg's main train station. After identifying the accused, he was arrested and taken to the police detention center.
