Foof, 07-21-2024. 5:29 PM. After yesterday's 4-0 win for the Oranje in the first match away in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands and Switzerland faced each other again today in The Hague. This was the last chance for fans to watch the Dutch live before they travel to Paris.
National coach Koslowski started with the following basics this time::
- Game Creator: Brett Bongaerts
- Libero: Florian Resink
- Qatari: Celeste Black
- Midfielders: Indy Biggins, Juliet Lohes
- Contestants: Nika Dalderup, Julian Knollema.
And since there was yesterday A substitute for a member of the coaching staff, we had already expected physiotherapist Marta Gutierrez Perez to get playing time too, but that was not the case. Laura Diekema from the coaching staff was back in the orange kit and was also allowed to play again in Group D. Perhaps that gives her the feeling that she is still part of the team, even though she is not among the 13 players in Paris.
Before the match started there were certificates and flowers for Ellen Timmerman (100 caps), Marit Jasper (200 caps), Anne Buijs (300 caps) and Celeste Black (400 caps).
Again four sets were played. The Dutch team turned out to be four times bigger than the 45th place in the FIVB world rankings, which is also expected given the 37th place gap with the Dutch team.
In the first group The score was tied at 20-20. Switzerland led 9-13 thanks to a number of smashes, which Nika Dalderup could not ignore and some smashes on her. Celeste Black and Juliette Lohes ensured the connection (12-14), and at 14-14 there was a balance.
Indi Baijens gave the Dutch a 16-15 lead, then a block point and some Swiss gifts made it 19-16. Switzerland were wrong again at 20-20. The Oranje made the decisive difference with a team break and two break points to 23-20, Switzerland came back to 23-22, and after two Swiss errors the Oranje won. Marit Jasper came on as a substitute in this set.
In the second group, which started on the same basis as in the first group, decisions were made. Two long series of the set. Nika Dalderop served the Dutch team 9-5 to 14-6, and Indi Baijens 16-6 to 20-7. In the Daalderop series, Julianne Knollema was a clear presence in scoring, and in the Indi series she made some aces of her own. Juliette Lohes scored 21-9 and 23-9, Marit Jasper came before serving, and Nika Dalderop then took the set 25-11 for the Netherlands.
The third section has begun. With Sarah Van Allen, Florine Resink, Elise Dambrink, Indie Baijens, Ellen Timmermann, Nova Maring, Marit Jasper.
The set seemed to be a copy of the second, this time the serving series came from Ellen Timmermans (7-2 to 10-3) and Elise Dambrink (12-3 to 19-4). Switzerland managed to score a four-game series after 20-4, but with errors 22-7, 23-8 and 25-11, they gave the Netherlands the win without much effort from the Dutch team.
Appearance
The fourth set started on the same basis as the previous one. Switzerland managed to hold on until 7-6, Elise Dambrink, Nova Maring and Marit Jasper beat the Dutch 10-6, the Swiss were ready to respond (10-9, 11-10) but then suffered from a series of offensive errors. Partly due to a series of offensive errors that reached 17-10 against. And that was it. At 20-13, Dykema and Black came in, and Switzerland lost three more points to 24-16, after which Indy Baigens ended the see-saw match.
They said goodbye too. Of the three beach pairs that will represent the Netherlands in Paris, Katja Stam/Raissa Schone, Mathieu Emmers/Steven van de Velde and Stefan Borremans/York de Groot are aiming for Olympic success.
