Thanks to a hugely successful streaming release on Amazon Prime Video, a sequel to the Latin-focused shark horror film The Black Demon is almost certain.

The film stars Josh Lucas, Fernanda Urrejula, Venus Ariel and Julia Cesar Cedillo, and cost only $10 million to produce.
The film was released in theaters in the United States on April 28, but was met with scathing reviews (12% rotten).

Since then, reviews have been added, bringing the score to 31%. And while the film only made $3 million in theaters, it's done much better on VOD and now on Amazon Prime Video.

The film then remained in the top 10 for another week. Not long after, producer Javier Chapa told The Hollywood Reporter that there was indeed talk of a sequel, despite the current strike.
