The demand for Alito to withdraw from all future Trump cases has become increasingly louder. The Supreme Court must decide soon whether Trump can use the principle of presidential immunity against his charges related to storming the Capitol building. If so, Trump cannot be prosecuted in the 2020 election lawsuit.
A few days ago—after the upside-down flag story broke—nearly 50 House Democrats addressed Justice Alito. They questioned his integrity and called on him not to pass judgment on matters related to Trump. South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsay O. Graham called the inverted flag “not a good assessment.”
So far, Alito has consistently refused to back down. He denied having anything to do with the upside down flag. “Ms. Alito briefly hung the flag in response to offensive language on a neighbor’s sign directed at us.” However, interviews with neighbors revealed that the judge's wife had gotten into a fight with a neighboring family, who had put up an anti-Trump sign in the front yard. He has not yet commented on the flag of the New Jersey pine tree.
