Barcelona and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement on the transfer of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski. According to BILD, the 33-year-old forward will move to Spain for €45 million. This amount can go up to 50 million through bonuses.
Lewandowski had already indicated that he wanted to leave for Barcelona, but no agreement had been reached yet. The striker just participated in training in Bavaria this week.
Bayern manager Oliver Kahn told Bild newspaper that the papers were not completed yet and that the switch was not yet official. For a long time, it did not seem that Bayern wanted to lose Lewandowski, but recently, according to Kahn, something has changed. And in the end Barcelona offered an amount that we wanted to sell.” The former goalkeeper said the arrival of Sadio Mane from Liverpool also plays a role in letting Lewandowski go.
Bayern and Lewandowski enter into a successful partnership. The striker was an eight-time national champion with the club from Munich, won the Champions League and was twice named the best football player in the world. He also took Gerd Muller’s record off the books, scoring no fewer than 41 times in the Bundesliga in the 2020/2021 season. He only needed 29 matches for that.
