Pachuca is a six-time champion for Mexico and has already won the Champions League five times in CONCACAF for North, Central America and the Caribbean. The last time was in 2017, the star was Hirving Lozano. The Mexican striker then went to PSV Eindhoven and now plays for Italian club Napoli.
Ajax Pachuca will help train coaches and youth academy staff, with the aim of improving the Mexican club’s players. According to Ajax, this could lead to the greatest talent finally coming to Amsterdam.
Best youth academy
“As Ajax, we can share a lot of information about how talent is trained,” says Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who works alongside Jerry Hamstra, Technical Director at Ajax. “For us, it is very important to know what is happening on another continent in terms of talent.” Ajax has previously entered into such partnerships in Japan, Australia, China and the United Arab Emirates, among other countries.
Pachuca’s chairman, Armando Martinez, says Ajax has the best youth academy in Europe. “We believe that in the future more Pachuca players will play in the Netherlands. The cooperation improves when footballers start playing here. And why not think about the future in which Ajax players come to play in Pachuca? Another goal is the exchange of young players.”
