main village Rinus ‘VeeKay’ van Kalmthout can be admired on the tarmac again during the next race in the NTT INYDCAR Series, the Honda Indy 200 in Midtown Ohio. The young Hofdorber was given permission to race.
VeeKay returns after a short absence due to injuries. Shortly after a double weekend in Detroit, he crashed while riding his bike. The 20-year-old driver broke his collarbone. Despite immediate surgery and a quick recovery, IndyCar medical staff prevented him from competing in IndyCar’s newest race, the REV Group Grand Prix at Road America.
“Fortunately I can race again,” said Vichai from the US. “It was very unfortunate to miss the Road America race, but thanks to the help of the IndyCar medical team and my Ed Carpenter Racing team, my recovery has been quick and I will be able to drive again next weekend.”
“The Mid-Ohio Sports Motors course is also one of my favorite tracks in the US, and I have fond memories of the last time I was active here. Ed Carpenter Racing has had a successful season so far. I will do my best to add a new chapter to this coming weekend,” VeeKay wraps up in earnest.
The Honda Indy 200 will be held in mid-Ohio next Sunday, July 4 – on Independence Day. The eighty-lap race starts around 6pm Dutch time.
