Ramadan, one of the five pillars of Islam, is going by in full swing for millions of Moroccans. The holy month in Morocco began on March 12 and is likely to last 29 days this year, meaning Eid al-Fitr falls on April 10.
The official date of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, can only be confirmed after the sighting of the new crescent moon. This task was entrusted to a committee of religious experts appointed by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.

At the end of Ramadan, Muslims are expected to pay Zakat al-Fitr, a charity imposed by the Prophet Muhammad. The Supreme Council of Scholars announced that the amount of Zakat al-Fitr for the year 2024 has been set at 20 dirhams per person.
