Tennis legend Boris Becker (55 years old) will coach Dane Holger Rohn (ATP 6). The German three-time Wimbledon champion said this on the Eurosport podcast “Das Gelbe vom Ball”.
Baker said he had been in contact with the 20-year-old Ron for some time. “Now it fits very well. My schedule allows for it and Holger has always interested me because he is on the field with a great deal of dedication and temperament. According to Becker, Rhône is a “diamond in the rough” that still needs to be cut.
Baker recently returned to work as a television analyst after being released from prison in Great Britain in December last year. He served seven months of a prison sentence totaling 2.5 years after being found guilty in London on April 29, 2022, of concealing his assets from the trustee in his bankruptcy.
As a coach, the former world number one has celebrated successes with Novak Djokovic, who won 24 Grand Slam titles between 2013 and 2016.
Becker will help Rohn for the first time during the Swiss Indoor Championships in Basel, which starts on Monday. He next wants to help the Dane qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin (12-19/11) via the prestigious ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris. “That’s the big goal.”
Ron has won just one of his last ten matches since falling in the Wimbledon quarter-finals. He was suffering from a back injury.
