Four members of the Tadashii-do Karate and Jiu-Jitsu Association participated in a two-week jiu-jitsu training in Perth, Western Australia. The training courses were concluded last Saturday with an exam. Wim Mallens and Brian Frowijn, jiu-jitsu instructors at Tadashii-do, have both earned certification associated with tanbo jutsu.
In tanbo jutsu, it is defended with a short wooden stick. This is in contrast to basic jiu-jitsu where you defend with open hands. Therefore, Tanpo Jutsu is an advanced part of Jiu Jitsu. Frowijn also took the Level 2 Teacher Certification Examination in Tsutsumi Hozan Ryu Jiu-Jitsu, the method taught in Tadashii-do. In addition to Frowijn, Head Coach Malins is also a certified Level 2 Jiu Jitsu instructor.
If you’re interested in training with a jiu-jitsu group on Saturday mornings at the Rhoon Portland gym, you’re welcome from 09.30. There are separate classes for young people and adults. Jiu Jitsu is also an excellent martial art for women. For more information on Karate and Jiu-Jitsu, you can call: 06-30543800.
