Strong fight> The training field for our Dutch internationals in Zeest was very neat and green. On Thursday 23 May, members of the Stichtse Vecht Entrepreneurs Association not only got to see where national coach Ronald Koeman and his Dutch team are training in preparation for the European Championship in Germany, but they also got a tour of the KNVB campus and a glimpse into the heart. Dutch football.
The company's visit to the “central point of the Netherlands” was an initiative of OVSV member Evert Woltjes – of the architectural and drawing consultancy agency Woltjes – who is a member of the amateur football membership board and therefore had an entry. At his request, Mark van Berkum, Secretary of the Amateur Football Board, gave a lecture at the Oud London restaurant next to the campus. He spoke of the “corporate” KNVB and its association structure, which has 1.2 million members and no fewer than 2,865 amateur associations, making the Netherlands the most football-intensive country in the world. Van Berkum said the organization's bottleneck is the decline in the number of referees, who together officiate 32,000 matches a week. “Who still enjoys being a referee these days?” The topic captured the imagination of many.
Afterwards, the entrepreneurs, accompanied by a guide, passed near the place where Helen Hendrix Oranjezomer presented, and were given a look behind the scenes at the Federal Office, where international players sleep, the room where FIFA-e competitions are held, and the place where the VARs (referees) were. Video assistants in action and the Football Medical Center, where everything is available for optimal rehabilitation after injury, featuring inspirational quotes such as “The pain you feel today will be the strength you feel tomorrow.” When we returned to Old London we had a nice chat while enjoying delicious snacks.
