Manchester City will head to Australia next week, where the blue side of Manchester will take part in the Perth International Football Cup. However, Kirsten Kasparij is looking forward to something very different than playing football Down Under.
“I'm really looking forward to it,” Kasparij tells the CFTV cameras. “What am I looking forward to most? I heard there's going to be a quokka.” A quokka is a wallaby, a small species of kangaroo, native to southwestern Australia. Vivianne Miedema is looking forward to the football part. “Beautiful and far away,” the forward says with a smile.
“For me, it would be nice to be with the team, to get to know everyone well. And of course also to play my first minutes in a City shirt,” continued Miedema, who joined from Arsenal this summer. Miedema doesn't really care who sits next to her on the plane to Australia. “I prefer to be next to someone who isn't afraid of flying.” In any case, Casparij knows how to enjoy herself: “I'll bring my Nintendo Switch.”
