Middlesbrough announced today, Thursday, that Middlesbrough coach Neil Warnock has tested positive for the Corona virus and is in self-isolation.
Middlesbrough did not confirm whether Warnock was suffering from any symptoms or not, but said the 71-year-old was in “good spirits”.
Watch Warnock from the stands as Boro lost 2–0 to Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, but was on the touchline in his team’s opening game against Watford last Friday.
“The club can confirm that our manager Neil Warnock has retested positive for COVID-19 and will spend a period in isolation as per the guidelines,” Middlesbrough said in a statement.
“Neil is in good spirits and we look forward to welcoming him again after his impeachment.”
Middlesbrough’s next match will be against Bournemouth on Saturday, where a thousand fans will be allowed to attend Riverside as the government continues to prosecute fans returning to matches amid the pandemic.
Warnock, who replaced Jonathan Woodgate as Borough manager in June, had previously managed the Premier League with Cardiff, Crystal Palace, QBR and Sheffield United.
