DaMarcus Beasley will work for PSV as Ambassador to the United States. The former PSV Eindhoven player, who played for PSV Eindhoven between 2004 and 2007, will work to increase the club's name recognition in his home country. The PSV board sees opportunities now that more and more American companies are showing interest in the Brainport area.
“As an association for the southern business, we want to respond to this trend. “We believe that there are opportunities in the United States not only to be more active commercially, but also to expand our fan base,” explains Commercial Director Frans Janssen.
The other reason is that in less than three years the World Cup will be held in the United States. In addition to Beasley, PSV will also collaborate with Bob van Oosterhout. “Bob has a lot of experience in sports marketing and a very extensive network in both Europe and the US. He has been doing business there for years,” says Janssen.
American tour
Eindhoven's interest in the United States is not new. FC Eindhoven has been touring America for some time. In the past, DaMarcus Beasley and Lee Nguyen, among others, wore the red and white of PSV Eindhoven.
Nowadays, a group of Americans is touring with the people of Eindhoven. For example, artistic director Ernest Stewart has American citizenship. In addition, three American players were signed last summer. Ricardo Pepe came from FC Groningen, while Serginho Dest and Malik Tielemann were signed from FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich respectively. On the other hand, there was the temporary departure of Richard Ledesma.
