Daphne Schippers had her first “serious competition” at the FBK Games since the disappointing Tokyo Olympics. She finished fifth on Hengelo in a meager time of 11.40. “Everything does not come together in one race.”
Daphne Schippers surprisingly returned to Vught two weeks ago. Then she ran a winning time of 11.37, this afternoon she was three hundred slower. Initially in the rainy Hengelo, three Dutch runners featured with N’Ketia Seedo, Marije van Hunenstijn and Jamille Samuel, but the latter got off the grid too early and was disqualified. Daryll Neita of Great Britain was the fastest with a time of 11.19.
Schippers were also in the support act earlier in the day, when they clocked in at 11.46. This is my first serious competition in ten months. Unfortunately, they haven’t all been assembled into one race yet. The training sessions show something different, but I have to go back to this for a while to get the feeling back. Schippers said, who joined the NOS She said that she is very good at her skin and that she enjoys being on the athletics track. Is the World Cup in Eugene, America a realistic goal? “It will be difficult, but if you see what I do in the training sessions, it will be possible. It goes step by step and I don’t really know where I stand yet.”
Soon after Schippers came the role of Chorandi Martina. He was also not convinced and crossed the finish line in ninth place with a time of 10.61. That was exactly half a second slower than winner Johann Blake of Jamaica. Joris van Goul (10.38) finished fifth on the FBK Arena.
