Devin Honey was scheduled to travel to Australia on Saturday night to meet George Campos Jr. To fight for the undeniable lightweight championship. It was a very lucrative decision for Huni as she dominated Cambodia in 12 rounds and won all four world championships in 135.
Haney became the ninth fighter to hold all four titles recognized in each weight class and the second youngest at the age of 23.
There was little to no play in the match and Hoeney immediately set up a superb punch, which always prevents Campos from attacking. When Gap landed, Honey threw lead hooks into his left hand and right hand straight behind him, and each shot encouraged the composer to leave it in his right hand, which he seemed to carry all night.
In the end, with official scorecards 116-112, 116-112, and 118-110, Honey decided unanimously and won.
“I kicked him out in his best match,” Hani said after the fight. “He wanted to land on the upper right corner and the big left hook. I paralyzed him. I fought on both sides. I’ll fight with my right hand when I go left. If I go right, I’ll fight with Hook. He can’t land on either.
Haney, who entered the WBC Championship with world titles in WBA, IBF and WBO, wasn’t ready to take on the composer after his stunning victory over Theofimo Lopez to win the WBC Championship. The original plan was to defend Campos against former champion Vasily Lomachenko. After the Russian invasion, Lomachenko got a chance to silence critics who claimed his WBC title was illegal when Lomachenko withdrew from the tournament in Ukraine, when Lomachenko was named franchise champion and promoted from temporary champion. WBC.
Huni’s father arrives the night before the fight, after extensive use of unwanted talk, and Cambodia loses weight on his first attempt. Select the face of Campos and Aussie with a balanced diet.
The Cambodians get a chance for revenge, as there is a new clause in the fight with Huni, as Huni will have to return to Australia if he wins the first joint round.
After the fight, Campos made it clear that he intended to enforce this provision.
“I’ll give him all the respect, give him time, and we’ll do it all over again,” Campos said. “I thought a fight was very imminent, but I wouldn’t spoil his moment. … I’ll see him soon.”
Stephen Fulton dominates Daniel Roman
Kambosos vs Haney isn’t the only one lining up for several world championships on Saturday night. Stephen Fulton defended his WBC and WBO Super Phantomweight titles against Daniel Roman in Minneapolis.
As with Honey’s win, Fulton used movement and hard punches to set the tone for all 12 rounds, as Roman tried to apply pressure but thwarted each attempt.
Fulton beat Roman on every turn and scored, making the one-sided fight one of the best confrontations of the year. The official scorecards for the match were 119-109, 120-108 and 120-108.
Fulton is now turning his attention to meeting WBA and FIFA champion Murdoch Akhmadaliye in the four-team merger later this year.
