Amsterdam, February 26, 2024 – The first Devworld conference will be held at RAI in Amsterdam on February 29 and March 1. With 7,500 visitors from 96 countries and experts and speakers from major technology companies such as Google, Microsoft, Netflix, Meta, TomTom, Amazon and Booking.com, it is truly the largest software designers conference ever organized in the Netherlands.
During the two-day event, software engineers and senior executives from technology companies learn all about the latest developments in their field. For example, about artificial intelligence (AI), website design, online stores, content management systems, databases, and cloud technology. But also in relation to issues such as privacy legislation, gender neutrality or staff recruitment. During the conference, 150 software engineering experts, leading programming language writers, founders of well-known companies, technology tools, and business teams from the world's largest technology and software companies will give presentations, sessions and master classes.
Organizers Jos Gerards and Luke Thomas began organizing conferences on the JavaScript programming language in 2018 under the name JSWorld. They attract more than a thousand visitors from all over the world to the Amsterdam Theater every year. “We received more and more questions to expand the conference to include other programming languages and other fields such as artificial intelligence. That's how the idea for Devworld came about,” explains Gerrards. He found a larger location for the event at RAI, where Day 3 of JSWorld will also take place during Day 2 of Devworld.
According to various studies, Amsterdam is the fourth best city in the world for technology companies and startups. After New York, San Francisco and London. According to Gerrards, this situation is confirmed by the tremendous enthusiasm for the conference, from visitors, speakers and major technology partner companies. 7,500 visitors come from 3,500 companies from all over the world. “This makes it quite unique. “There has never been such a big conference in this field in the Netherlands before,” he says.
Gerrards calls Devworld “Disneyland for developers.” Not only because of all the high-tech experts and companies involved, but also because of the side program. There's a Devworld cinema with Star Trek movies, a free laser tag game with augmented reality (AR), 3D printing workshops, F1 Racing, retro arcade video games, and a chess tournament. “It's primarily about sharing knowledge. Visitors come to learn, but we also want them to have a good time.
