Much less gas was used in the Netherlands last week than in the same period in previous years. Gas consumption in our country was much lower months ago. For example, between September 29 and October 5, 538 GWh of gas was used per day by homes and businesses. This is at least 38 percent less than in previous years.
The decline in use is partly due to the fact that gas is becoming more expensive than in the past, which means that people and businesses are becoming more economical. Recently, power plants have also used less gas to produce electricity. Instead, power plants have chosen coal, for example.
