“We now know that the RB18 is a good car with which we can get a good result on every track,” says Verstappen in Florida. The 24-year-old Dutchman received a blow to the arm.
“This is a new track and on such a new track things can go right, but there are a lot of mistakes too. We just have to make sure we get the car in the optimum balance, and look at how to properly heat up the tires and wear the mapping.”
Verstappen expects a very different weekend for the Grand Prix than Imola. “It was very hectic there. There was less time to train because of the sprint and it was raining the whole time. We didn’t make any modifications to the car. It was much more important not to get slipped and other mistakes and to hit the nail in the head in the qualifying round.”
“Fantastic fast cornering”
At first glance, the new Miami International Autodrome Verstappen is satisfactory. “The fast turns are great and the straights are really long. The tight, twisty part of the track would also be interesting. The team that puts in the best car will score here, but I think we’ll be very competitive again and again.”
“It’s going to be a weekend full of energy and beauty,” Verstappen explains. “Everyone is excited. Not only the drivers, but the fans too. Miami is a great city and an exciting location for the Grand Prix. I love racing in the US. Austin (Texas) is a great race for me too. It’s great that Formula 1 is spreading its wings in America and that the sport is growing explosively here “.
