Eurofins Agro has joined the Dutch Vietnamese Gardening Business Platform (NVHBP) as a “Gold Member”. Eurofins Agro provides knowledge and insight to farmers in Vietnam through this platform. A number of Vietnamese growers have now gained experience, such as the Sapa Hitech lily nursery. Thanks to Eurofins Agro’s analyzes and accompanying advice, the company was able to improve fertilization as well as grow more varieties.
Vietnam’s MimosaTek is operating in Ho Chi Minh City as a local supplier. Founded in 2014, MimosaTek has an ambition to support farmers in professionalizing and modernizing their businesses through the use of modern technology. Eurofins Agro is a supplier of a full range of horticultural analyzes (water, soil and crops).
Theo Annhan, Business Unit Manager, Greenhouse Horticulture at Eurofins Agro, is happy with this new collaboration. “Southeast Asia in general, and Vietnam in particular, is emerging strongly as a greenhouse horticulture region. National governments are investing heavily there. Recently, a cooperation agreement was also concluded between the Dutch government and Vietnam. Recently we were able to perform hundreds of analyzes of Vietnamese vegetable and flower growers. Thus. Participating in this platform is the next logical step for us. “
Simple form
“Collaboration is based on a simple model,” says MimosaTek. “MimosaTek is the“ only point of contact ”for Vietnamese farmers. A MimosaTek employee takes samples, collects them and prepares them for transportation to the Netherlands. Eurofins Agro analyzes the samples within 24 hours after the samples arrive in the laboratory. The results and any targeted values and recommendations are sent digitally to MimosaTek. Team Gardening in MimosaTek then translates the reports to Vietnamese farmers and provides explanations and advice if needed.
Better yield and quality
One company that uses Eurofins Agro Analytics is Sapa Hitech. This company is already growing lilies, gerberas and begonia in the Sapa region, 400 kilometers north of Hanoi at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. The climate is very suitable for growing flowers in the summer, but the soil fertility is moderate. In 2019, Sapa Hightech started soil sampling to grow tulips. Two types of land were introduced; Yellow and black earth. Thanks to analyzes and advice from Eurofins Agro and MimosaTEK, the farmer has gained insight into the current soil structure and fertility. Fertilization was adapted and became more suitable for cultivation. This makes fertilization more effective and Sapa Hitech can also grow a wide variety of lilies in the same nursery.
The Dutch-Vietnamese business platform Horty is a partnership between and for companies, institutions and government organizations in the Netherlands and Vietnam active in the horticulture sector.
