Harrison, NJ – Penn State graduate Ellie Jane signed a one-year contract with a one-year option with NJ/NY Gotham FC on Monday.

Jen returns to the United States after recently playing for PSV Eindhoven of the Eredivisie Women’s League in the Netherlands. The former Penn Stater will be entering her first season in the NWSL after beginning her career abroad in Europe.

The 24-year-old defender last played in 22 women’s Eredivisie matches and four UEFA Women’s Champions League matches with PSV Eindhoven, one of the biggest clubs in the Netherlands.

She joined PSU teammate Ali Krieger (2003-2006), who was traded to Gotham FC from the Orlando Pride team in December.

Jean was born in Coventry, Connecticut, and played at Penn State in 2015 and 2017-19.

She won a national championship with Nittany Lions when she was a freshman in 2015 and was a member of two Big Ten Championship teams and three Big Ten Championship teams.

She is the recipient of the All Big Ten Academics Honors three times and the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar twice.

In her first season, she was the captain of the team, earning the All-Big Ten rank.

She played in 100 games for the Nittany Lions, and finished sixth in the program’s history.

Jen has also appeared frequently with the United States women’s national team at the U-23, U-20, and U-17 levels.

Gotham FC kicks off the pre-season phase on February 1 ahead of the 2022 season with group matches for the NWSL Challenge Cup on Saturday 19 March.
