“I haven’t seen these figures,” Mr Hunt explained to Currently.
“I haven’t seen them at the Commonwealth stage, and I checked this early morning and the Chief Medical Officer of Australia professor Paul Kelly has not been given individuals figures from Victoria so I can’t specifically remark on them.”
New modelling suggests the COVID-19 peak will not likely be achieved till the end of August, with superior case numbers predicted to remain by September and Oct.
“I’ve always been really mindful on making predictions,” Mr Hunt stated.
“What I do know is this, that these large quantities of cases are not going to disappear overnight.
“We will have a difficult period and these cases will not just out of the blue disappear and any individual who says that I think will be executing a grave disservice to Victorians.
“We’re heading to have to go via the most difficult period in our background, I consider, arguably the most complicated period because these restrictions are unprecedented.”
General public wellness orders and strict regulations ended up developing better benefits outside of Victoria, Mr Hunt mentioned.
“What I will say is this, that the four defences we have – borders, screening, tracing and distancing – they’re working unbelievably nicely in seven out of the 8 States and Territories.”
