Femke Paul received a very special message after claiming her second gold medal at the World Championships. Multiple Olympic champion Usain Bolt sent a funny message to the Dutch athlete after she prevented Jamaica from winning gold with her acceleration in the final leg of the 4x400m relay.
“You’ve already got one gold, and you didn’t have to pass us in the last metre!” The Jamaican sent Bolt a text message, Bol told DJ Frank Dane on Monday on 538 afternoon show. “Then I thought, ‘Wow, this is pretty special,'” Paul said.
The 23-year-old athlete from Amersfoort was in third place for a long time during the final in Budapest and was therefore on course for a bronze medal, but thanks to a tremendous catch-up race, the Netherlands won a gold medal in the relay. Paul, Leke Claver, Evelyn Sahlberg and Kathleen Peters ran to the world title with a Dutch record of 3.20.72.
Boll previously became the first Dutch woman to win gold in the 400m hurdles in Hungary.
