The 2024 Formula 1 season has just begun, and 2025 is already being considered. Formula 1 analyst Jack Ploeg reported after the Saudi Grand Prix that the calendar will be overhauled. According to him, Bahrain will no longer be the opening match of the season.
This year, the premier category of motorsport began with two races on Saturday, one in Bahrain and the other in Saudi Arabia, both won by Max Verstappen. It was held on Saturday because the month of Ramadan begins today, Sunday, March 10. This is said to be the reason why Bahrain, which has hosted the inaugural season since 2021, will not host the first race of the 2025 season. The race at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit will therefore be postponed. The Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park will reportedly open next season. The Melbourne competition last hosted its season opener in 2019, before the 2020 event was canceled due to the pandemic. It is not yet known exactly when races will be held in the Middle East before 2025. According to Ploeg, the Grand Prix of China and Japan will be held after Australia. Not only will Bahrain lose the opening match of the season, but they will also lose the winter test, which will then move to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.

Sudden calendar
“That would be very surprising,” Ploeg began. Ziggo Sports Race Cafe About next year's calendar. “We won't be testing in Bahrain anymore. We're going to Barcelona anyway. So the winter testing will be in Barcelona and the first race will be in Melbourne. That will go back to being the first race. And then we'll continue to do testing in Bahrain.” As do China and Japan, because the whole Middle East story moves forward because of Ramadan.” The Formula 1 analyst added jokingly: “I am announcing this now, I am the spokesman for Formula 1. Write it down. I announce this now.”
