Max Verstappen wrote history on Sunday with his win at Zandvoort. The world champion achieved his ninth consecutive victory, equaling Sebastian Vettel’s record. But will he also get his hands on the record on his own? That will become clear this weekend, when the Italian Grand Prix is on the programme. The race at Monza is the 14th of 23 grand prix this season. It is the last showdown on European soil, because after this Formula 1 will visit Singapore, Japan, Qatar, the United States (twice), Mexico, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates.
This means we’ll have to deal with European times one last time, although qualifying on Saturday will be an hour later than last weekend in Zandvoort (4pm instead of 3pm). The race will take place at the legendary Autodromo Nazionale di Monza at 3 p.m.
No one doubts that Verstappen will win his third world title this season. If he wins in Italy, he can almost touch the trophy. Read here when the fight can finally be decided.
Max Verstappen successfully completed the first free practice on Friday. He was fastest again, but had to settle for fifth place in the second free practice. Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was the fastest man in the second practice session for the Italian Grand Prix.
