From May 6, additional Arriva trains will run to Eemshaven
From 6 May, more Arriva trains will run between Groningen station and Emshaven, where there is a ferry connection to Borkum. This is the second time this year that Arriva has deployed additional trains to the port.
Additional local trains depart from Groningen Station to Emshaven at 10:52, 11:22 and 13:52 on weekdays. On Saturdays, additional trains run at 7:52 AM, 10:52 AM, 11:52 AM, 2:22 PM, and 4:52 PM. There are additional local trains on Sundays at 6:22am and 2:22pm. After about an hour, trains leave Emshaven for Groningen again.
Growth in the number of trains daily
Eemshaven station is the northernmost train station in our country and was opened in 2018. Since then, the train from Rudskül runs to Eemshavn several times a day. This number of trains has now increased. Since opening, there have been three to five trains daily, with only one train in the winter period.
With the additional trains, there are now fifteen trains running to Emschaffen on weekdays. On Saturday, ten, and on Sunday, six. This schedule will remain in effect at least until the end of the year.
