Also interesting is that the Fenix 8 43mm and 47mm AMOLED display is 0.1 inches larger than the Fenix 7 Pro, which means Garmin has managed to reduce the bezels on the display. Depending on the version, the frame is made of stainless steel or titanium, and the display is protected by either Gorilla Glass or sapphire glass. The retailer has yet to confirm how this will affect pricing; so far, leaks have indicated prices ranging from €999 to €1,199, depending on the size of the smartwatch.
In addition to the display, the most exciting innovation is that Garmin has finally installed speakers and microphones so you can use voice assistants and make phone calls. The LED flashlight, Garmin Messenger app, and Garmin ski and golf maps are back on board, as are topographic maps.
But what’s new is Dive Mode, which officially supports recreational diving down to 40 meters, including underwater function buttons. Also new is Garmin Share, which lets you share planned routes, workouts, and positions with compatible Garmin devices with the push of a button. The Garmin Fenix 8 is expected to officially launch on Tuesday, August 27.
