HENGELO / SCHLEITZ – Round 4 of the IDM Championship (Internationale Deutsche Motorradmeisterschaft) was held at the Schlez Arena over the weekend from 22 to 24 July. Each of them were beautiful sticks with full stands and thousands of spectators. Once again a spectacle with a great atmosphere on the sunny Schleizer Dreieck, comparable to the motorbike racing on the Varsselring in Hengelo.

The victory in the Superbike went to German Markus Ritterberger twice. Hamove member Rob Hartog achieved two beautiful fourth places. He even drove in the second race for several laps. Unfortunately, the BMW passenger was a little faster for the SWPN Yamaha driver. Pepijn Bijsterbosch finished fifth behind Rob Hartog twice. Both Dutchmen were very satisfied with their results after Sunday.
In the Supersport class, the victory went to Max Enderlein twice. In addition, Dutchman Toan Smits gave a very strong performance in both matches. As a newcomer to the Supersport class, he placed third and second for Team Apreco. Hans Smys had another successful weekend with Freudenberg. Austrian driver Leo Rammerstorfer managed, Saturday, to win the Super Sport 300 class, while his teammate Lennox Lehmann did so in Sunday’s race. The Smees were partially satisfied because they were hoping to get a full podium for the Freudenberg drivers. Perhaps this will happen during the next race in Assen. Benny Struer and his German rider Kevin Kolsch managed to win the race on Saturday with a narrow advantage over Tim Reeves and Kevin Russo. The tables turned on Sunday after another very exciting race.
The next weekend’s competitions will be held on Dutch soil. On the weekend of August 12-14, the IDM Championship will be hosted at the TT Arena in Assen. It is worth taking a look at this wonderful international tournament with a lot of Dutch contributions.
chimay
On the same weekend with Schles, the third round of the IRRC (International Road Racing Championship) was held in Chimay, Belgium. As in Schleiz, there was a huge crowd at Chimay. Belgian home driver Vincent Lonbois managed to win both races and did well for the championship. David Datzer of Germany came second, and Finn Erno Kostamo was third in the first race. Marcus Karlsson of Sweden and Lukas Mauer of Switzerland finished second and third in the second race. Joey den Besten and Viril Amber Bloemhard finished the first race outside the top ten for various reasons. In the race, things went better for the men and Joey was eighth and Virgil fifth. In the Supersport class, Czech Marek Cervini was unbeatable and drove as usual, winning both races. Jorn Hamberg and Ilja Caljouw drove a great first race and were able to climb the podium in second and third places. Kalju even finished one place higher in race two and was second on the podium alongside Cervini. Thomas Walter, who was born in Schles and who was unable to attend IDM, took third place in the second race. Hamburg finished only 13th in the second race and lost a lot of championship points as a result.
Hengelo’s performance race came home with mixed feelings, as did Joey de Besten. Hamberg and Den Besten hope to do better in Horice, Czech Republic. There will be a battle for points on the weekend of August 13th and 14th.
