Sophie Leube won the 50th edition of the Boycelo Military Championship on Sunday afternoon. With her horse Jadore Moi, the German rider stayed clear in a very exciting final of the closing showjumping competition.
After a dressage test on Thursday and Friday, which was followed by an amazing and very crowded cross-country race, the participants at the top of the rankings were preparing for a thrilling representation of the anniversary version. No fewer than six groups were less than one jump foul from each other before the start of the final segment.
Three final victories?
The one who kept his cool head was former two-time winner William Fox Pitt. The number two after cross-country rode a clear jump track with his horse Grafennacht (with a 1.2 penalty point for time overrun) thus putting pressure on Leop. But the German knight was not inclined to deviate from her plan. With her 11-year-old mare, she was also straightforward and on time. Good for the overall win in the fiftieth edition.
Fox-Pitt, returning to Boekiello after an eight-year absence, finished second, ahead of Frenchman Sidney Dufresne, who finished third after Suburban from American Tamra Smith. I got rid of two struts with Danetto and fell to 10th. English European champion Nicola Wilson retained her fourth place.
