Google plans to release its Pixel 5 smartphone, a new Chromecast, and a new smart speaker later this month. Google began inviting members of the media to a special event on September 30th, promising new devices. The invitation says, “We invite you to find out everything about our new Chromecast, our latest smart speakers and the new Pixel phones.”
Google has already confirmed its plans to launch the Pixel 5 later this year, with 5G connectivity. The Pixel maker revealed its launch plans alongside the launch of Pixel 4A last month, promising 5G versions of the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan and Australia.
There’s a new Chromecast on the way too, and an update to Google’s Smart Speakers. This will likely be the Nest smart speaker that Google confirmed back in July after a photo of the speaker was leaked online. The speaker looks like it will be a thing between the Nest Mini and the larger Google Home Max, with the ability to stand vertically.
Two new mysterious Google devices appeared at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) last month, and they appear to be linked to a new Android TV product Google has reportedly been preparing for a while. Google is rumored to be working on a TV dongle codenamed “Sabrina” which uses Android TV and traditional remote user interface. Chromecasts are usually powered by smartphones, and Google’s invitation specifically mentions Chromecast so it’s not clear if these two will appear later this month.
Google Event will be held around September 30 at 2 PM EST / 11 AM PDT, and the edge It will cover all Google ads directly.
