infrastructure
Netz Burgenland is building a new 110 kV line between the substations Oberpullendorf and Rotenturm. It is also about increasing the use of renewable energies. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new infrastructure project took place on Monday.
A total of 141 pylons will be constructed over a length of 42 kilometres. The new 110 kV line runs parallel to the high-voltage line for long periods. It is intended to connect the Oberpullendorf substation to the Rotenturm substation. From there there is a connection to the 380 kV network of the Austrian power grid.
Androsch: “We are missing a thousand kilometers of cable”
The project is being implemented by Europten, a subsidiary of Hannes Androsch, for 55 million euros. According to the former SPÖ Finance Minister, the expansion of the network in Austria is not yet complete: “We are missing a thousand kilometers of lines, and for the Kaprun line alone – 120 kilometers – the process took 30 years.” Speeding it up, you don't need to mention the energy transformation.
In Burgenland, the main project completed the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in “record time”. “It is a special project if we build a 110 kV line over a distance of 42 kilometers without objections. On the one hand, this is something special in terms of procedural technology, and on the other hand, from my point of view, it is very important to bridge the gap between Oberpullendorf and Oberwart so that we can actually Bringing our energy concepts “We want implementation,” said state Governor Hans-Peter Doskozil (SPÖ).
Expanding renewable energies in Central Burgenland
The goal is to use the power of the wind and sun more intensely. “North, central and south Burgenland will be connected to this line,” explained Stefan Sharma, CEO of Burgenland Energie.
During the June storms, we were able to see once again how important it is to have a secure power supply. “Especially in central and southern Burgenland, we need to further expand the electricity infrastructure to ensure a secure power supply,” Sharma added.
