In 2015, the American Gymnastics Association sounded the alarm at a local branch of the FBI when three players reported being abused by Nassar. The US Department of Justice concluded that no action was taken by the security apparatus.
A year later, the newspaper The Indianapolis Star abuse scandal. The article stated that federal investigators had made no contact with the gymnasts after their advance, much to the chagrin of those involved. Later that year, Nassar was arrested.
