We know HBO Max from the Warner Bros. films. A high quality series. The Dutch premiere will be very different.
Since last month we can finally spot HBO Max in the Netherlands. The streaming service is packed with great movies and series like Dune, The Batman, Game of Thrones, and Westworld. The Dutch premiere of HBO Max is definitely not on that list. The streaming service is actually betting on what to expect on Discovery+ or Videoland.
HBO Max comes with… a dating show?
The Dutch premiere will be a local version of the dating program Fboy Island. Yes, you are right, the name of the island in the title suggests the worst. The width fits perfectly with the Temptation Island or Ex on the Beach line.
To be precise, Fboy Island was designed by one of the creators of The Bachelor. The show follows three women traveling to a tropical island where they are accompanied by 16 men. So many men are again divided into two groups. Eight are the so-called Nice Guys looking for love, while the remaining eight – Fboys – are there to compete for a cash prize.
HBO Max says the women on the show are looking for true love with a good dose of humor. According to them, the show is both a reference to the dating genre and a social experiment in which we can see if the Fboys can really change. The show is presented by comedian Lisa Loeb.

Dutch version of Fboy
Fboy isn’t entirely new to HBO Max, as the show is one of the most successful reality titles on HBO Max in the US. In addition to the Netherlands, a number of other countries will have their own version. So if you really like it, you can also watch a lot of other releases.
Personally, we’d rather stick to high-quality series like Tokyo Vice and We Own This City. But hey, there’s something for everyone on HBO Max.
