Bangkok is facing a severe heat wave. According to the Thai Meteorological Department, the heat index has reached critical levels in several provinces, including Bangkok.
In the Thai capital A Indy heat48.1 degrees reached. Until Friday, temperatures in the Bangkok area are expected to range between 35 and 40 degrees during the day, and at night temperatures will remain around 27 degrees.
The Meteorological Department warns of dangerously high temperature indicators, which poses a very high risk of heat-related illnesses, including heatstroke. From Friday to Monday, the chance of thunderstorms increases, which may be accompanied by strong winds and possibly hail.
How does the heat indicator work?
How you expose yourself to a particular temperature depends largely on the humidity. For example, a temperature of 30 degrees at 50% humidity feels like 31 degrees, at 70% like 35 degrees and at 80% like 38 degrees. The higher the air temperature, the greater the effect of humidity on the perceived temperature. A temperature of 34 degrees at 50% humidity feels like 39 degrees, at 70% feels like 48 degrees and at 80% feels like 54 degrees. The perceived temperatures mentioned are based on the heat index.
