Motocross fans are looking forward to Sunday evening, when the last major race of 2022, Motocross of Nations, will be held in Buchanan, USA. In other words, the World Championship for national teams.
There, many Americans wearing the stars and stripes hope to finally see their compatriots after ten years Chamberlain Cup He will win.
Commentator Herlings this time
Three years ago, the Netherlands won the world title for the first time in the wet city of Essen. Jeffrey Herlings was there at the time, this year is missing the bullet. He saw the end of the season with a foot injury in February.
Herlings will serve as co-commentator for NOS tonight.
Five-time world champion Hurlings is back on his bike and aiming for 2023. He’s almost fully recovered, next week, awaiting his last little keyhole surgery. “Touching for another small piece of bone that was still a little irritating in my shoe,” Herlings says. “After that, preparations for 2023 begin, and I can’t wait.”
Motocross Olympics
On one weekend a year, the best motorcycle racers in the world ride not for their score, but for their country. It makes Motocross of Nations a special competition. They are often referred to as the Motocross Olympics. It always creates a special atmosphere, also along the path.
What’s more, it is the only race where European drivers from the world championship meet their American competitors, who primarily compete in their own country.
Nations also have a long tradition and history. It is in fact the birthplace of motocross, because the first edition was already held in 1947. This year will be the 75th time the national title has been fought for, making this race older than, say, the World Cup.
Each country may use three drivers to collect points on behalf of the Netherlands, Glenn Coldenhof, Calvin Flander and Kai de Wolff. They all got into the business twice. Of the six results achieved by the Dutch drivers, the worst may be omitted.

According to Herlings, Dutch motocross racers are among the candidates on the podium, but the top candidates are from the United States. “America has two very strong riders Eli Tomac and Chase Sexton, who finished first and second in the US Championships this year. And their third rider Justin Cooper is an amazing talent. It is their home race and they will want to win again at the end.”
America is the most successful country in Motocross of Nations with 22 victories, but the most recent victory dates back to 2011.
