Scouting’s Honor: The Secret Files of the Boy Scouts of America
Scouting’s Honor: The Secret Files of the Boy Scouts of America It will tell the story of decades of sexual abuse in the Boy Scouts of America. The Scouts knew about this, but they tried to cover it up for years. We hear in the trailer that there was actually talk of sexual assault among the Boy Scouts shortly after their founding in 1908. It was at that time that they created the “Red Flag List,” a list of all incidents of sexual assault. For years, this list was a big secret of the Boy Scouts of America.
Several people have already spoken out in the trailer saying that the problem isn’t necessarily the leadership of the Scouts, but the lack of control over who can be led. “The Boy Scouts of America always claims they have a rigorous application process and leadership screening. That is not true and has never been true.” When the issue finally came to light, more than 82,000 victims came forward. Some of those victims will also speak in the documentary.
