American track and field coach Rana Ryder has been linked to sexual misconduct. Watchman On Wednesday, it reported that the US Center for Safe Sports (USCSS) is investigating several allegations against it from the sports world. Between 2014 and 2018, Ryder worked for the Dutch Athletics Association as a national coach for sprinters. There he had, among other things, Daphne Schippers under his wing.
It is not known exactly what sexual misconduct entails for Ryder (51) according to the allegations. The British Athletics Association has warned athletes Adam Gemly and Daryl Netta against training under Ryder’s care pending an investigation, according to the Guardian. The coach himself told the British outlet that he was not aware of the investigation by the USCSS, an organization that wants to combat abuse in sports.
Ryder is considered one of the best sprint trainers in the world. During the Tokyo Olympics, Canadian Andre de Grasse trained for the gold in the 200 meters, while Schippers became the world champion under him in 2017 over the same distance. In 2018, the American unexpectedly left the Athletics Association, which at the time stated that Ryder had returned to the United States due to family circumstances. (Norwegian Refugee Council)
