The picture we have of dinosaurs today is largely determined by Spielberg’s neoclassic Jurassic Park† Science has now advanced a lot with knowledge about reptiles, although they can thank the filmmakers for the increased interest and funding for their research. Filmmakers have only partially followed the new scientific insights. Many dinosaurs are known to have had feathers, Tyrannosaurus Rex was much slower and Velociraptor much smaller than it did in the movies.

Nor did digital technologies stand idly by. There is a YouTube video that is over five minutes long that looks like a nature documentary filmed millions of years ago. Director Colin Trevorrow intended it as a prequel to Jurassic World: DominionBut in the end, let it go. He said in the final introduction that the Jurassic Park experience really got out of hand.

Man has learned to live with runaway dinosaurs. Small reptiles walk along the beach, pterosaurs have built their nests in New York’s skyscrapers, stegosauruses walk the streets and triceratops graze in meadows. Biosys, a multinational corporation with only good intentions, started a conservation in the Italian Dolomites and takes care of the worldwide dinosaur population. However, they are especially interested in Maisie Lockwood, a girl cloned from her mother, a deceased scientist from the time of Jurassic Park.

Maisie lives in the forests of the United States with Owen and Claire, who have found their own way of dealing with dinosaurs. If Biosys appears to be also responsible for the extinction of global agricultural crops and threatens to disrupt the food chain, it’s time for action. None of them except Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum have been called upon to reprise their famous roles. Fortunately, it doesn’t stop at the cameos, as the trio have full leadership roles.

There is a lot going on in this third and final part of jurassic worldseries. Even with more than two and a half hours on the clock, it seems annoying to give so much plot and so many characters in the space. So it’s amazing how everything and everyone falls into place. The stories of the Old and New Guards are largely separate, but they are constantly intertwined. Even new characters, like the powerful Kayla Watts and a Biosys CEO who looks a lot like Steve Jobs, are given ample space and a full explanation.

You might almost forget that this series is primarily about dinosaurs, but Trevorrow actually uses it consistently if it helps the story further, or simply includes a flashy action. Just as prehistoric reptiles have earned a place in everyday life, they are a logical and practical part of this disaster movie. Trevorrow also throws in some food for thought, but he doesn’t constantly rub his audience.

Everything shows that the filmmakers have a huge love for the 1993 classic, which is reflected in the one-on-one shots of Spielberg’s masterpiece. It’s not a cheap copy, but an homage to a movie that broke new ground in the use of computer effects and “old school” animation electronics. Trevorrow didn’t shy away from that last element either. It is clear that sometimes sleeping or slow-moving dinosaurs were used, but they have an unparalleled charm.

What the filmmakers also do well is show diversity. Not because he woke up, but because he is a good reflection of society. You shouldn’t underestimate the importance of more and more moviegoers getting to know themselves in the characters on screen. It’s also great to see the old club gladly taking over their roles again. Dominion It’s a noteworthy sequel to a second dinosaur trilogy, which we hope won’t be the last. It guarantees an evening full of excitement and adventure. Sometimes delicious.
