KLM will cancel a limited number of flights this summer. The airline said Thursday that it will be offering an “acceptable alternative” to passengers whose flight has not taken off. Since Schiphol has set a maximum number of passengers per day, all airlines must take action this summer.
KLM says that people whose flights have to be canceled can still travel on the same day or as close as possible to that date. “Affected travelers will be informed of this in person as soon as possible.”
The company will also sell fewer tickets for the summer term. This should also help meet the requirements of the airport.
During the May holidays, Schiphol faced a significant shortage of security personnel and elsewhere at the airport. These problems will continue into the summer. In order to prevent unsafe situations, the number of passengers will be severely curtailed.
KLM states again that limiting the number of passengers cannot be a structural solution to problems.
About 9000 travelers from Transavia get money back
Corendon previously announced that it will move a significant portion of flights to Rotterdam Airport. Thus, holiday trips in which you travel with your own plane will be able to continue. The same goes for TUI.
In Sunweb, which mainly uses Transavia planes, flights are also transferred to another airport or on another day.
Transavia announced yesterday that it will cancel a few hundred flights through mid-August. A large part of the people affected by this can be rebooked. No replacement has been found for about 9,000 people, and they will get their money back.
