The love for the game remains, even after its failed return. Kim Clijsters, 40, played her best at the indoor softball tournament – a variation of tennis and padel – last weekend in the US.
look. Kim Clijsters is having a good time at the USA Baseball Tournament
Clijsters competed in the National Indoor Pickleball Championships at the Atlantic City Convention Center near Philadelphia. Our compatriot was active in mixed doubles.
Since her recent retirement from tennis, Clijsters, like many Americans, has focused on pickleball. Pickleball was invented in the 1960s and is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States.
It is a different game from tennis, as pickleball is played on a small court with wooden rackets and a plastic ball. Last year, Clijsters joined a professional pickleball team with NFL star Tom Brady.
The new team of Clijsters and Brady is part of USA Baseball's sixteen-team league. The total prize pool rises to more than two million euros.
The new team, Clijsters and her teammates, will be 50 percent female-owned. After all, competition has made gender equality an essential task.
“I've grown to love the sport, with great people who I also consider my best friends. It's great to be able to introduce pickleball to the world with the experience I've gained in tennis.”
