The countdown to the first Winter World Cup in football history could begin. Louis van Gaal, coach of the national team, announced the selection of 26 players in Qatar. Van Gaal initially has 39 players in his pre-selection, but may include 26 players in his final selection. This means 13 players withdrew at the last minute. Jasper Cillessen and Mark Flick are the guards outside the boat. Furthermore, the final selection was not made for defenders Mitchell Packer, Sven Putman, Devin Rench, Pascal Stroek and Mickey van de Veen, midfielders Jordi Clasey, Ryan Gravenburch and Gus Till and strikers Brian Probe, Arnott Danjuma and Doniel Mallin. These are the 26 players who will be boarding the plane to Qatar:
goalkeepers: Justin Bello (Fyenoord), Andres Neubert (Heerenveen), Rimko Pasfer (Ajax).
Defenders: Nathan Ake (Manchester City), Daley Blind (Ajax), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Denzel Dumfries (Inter Milan), Jeremy Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen), Matthijs de Ligt (Bayern Munich), Terrell Malacia (Manchester United), Lorjan Timber (Ajax) and Stefan de Vrij (Inter Milan).
Midfielders: Stephen Burgess (Ajax), Frenkie de Jong (Barcelona), Davy Claassen (Ajax), Tion Kompiners (Atalanta Bergamo), Martin de Ron (Atalanta Bergamo), Xavi Simmons (PSV) and Kenneth Taylor (Ajax).
Attackers: Steven Bergwijn (Ajax), Memphis Depay (Barcelona), Cody Jacobo (PSV), Vincent Janssen (Royal Antwerp), Luc de Jong (PSV), Noa Lang (Club Brugge) and Wat Wijhorst (Besiktas).

The Dutch team is classified in Group A along with the host country Qatar, Senegal and Ecuador. The match against African champions Senegal came immediately after the opening on Monday (November 21st). After 4 days you can start the weekend with Holland and Ecuador, and again 4 days later is the last team match against Qatar. The Orange squad will play all three group matches at the end of the afternoon. The matches between Senegal and Ecuador will be held at five in the evening, Dutch time, and the match with Qatar will start at four in the afternoon. If the Orange team finishes with one or two places in the group, it will play against a country from Group B in the next round. England, Iran, the United States or Wales could become the next contender after the group stage.
- Monday, November 21, 5 p.m.: Netherlands – Senegal
- Friday, November 25, 5 p.m.: Netherlands – Ecuador
- Tuesday, November 29 at 4 p.m.: Netherlands – Qatar
- Saturday 3rd December at 4pm: Netherlands – England / Iran / USA / Wales (if orange becomes first in the group)
- Sunday December 4 at 8 pm: Netherlands – England / Iran / USA / Wales (if orange becomes second in the group)
